D365 Commerce -AI-Driven Retail at NRF
Retail’s Big Show (NRF 2025) will spotlight how AI—especially when embedded in ERP systems—transforms customer experiences, streamlines fulfillment, and supports sustainability goals.
Retail Trends for 2025

Modernized Store Operations: Advanced POS and self-checkout for faster in-store service.
Power Platform ALM
ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) in Power Platform has grown tremendously over the past two years, but with new features arriving every month, many users aren’t sure which steps to take next. To simplify things, Microsoft introduced Maker and Admin Deployment pages (preview).
Maker Deployment Page
Makers spend less time hunting for deployment data and more time improving solutions. The page also offers guidance for anyone new to ALM best practices.
Unified View: Makers can now see every deployment that started in—or was sent to—their current environment.
Highlighted Issues: Failed and active deployments are easy to spot, so you won’t waste time digging around.
Admin Deployment Page
Administrators get a centralized spot to approve or reject deployment requests, quickly address failures, and ensure robust security across pipelines.
All Deployments in One Place: The Power Platform admin center now shows every tenant-wide deployment.
Secure Approvals: Admins can set up Delegated Deployments (using service principals) for added security, and review changes with Copilot-generated notes.
Managing Copilot Studio Capacity
In the Power Platform admin center allows administrators to track and allocate Copilot Studio message units across environments. This ensures you stay within usage limits (prepaid or pay-as-you-go) while giving makers and users consistent access to Copilot features.
Message Unit: A single user interaction with a Copilot agent. Each prompt and response counts as one unit of consumption. Each request sent to Copilot triggers one “unit” of consumption.
Prepaid vs. Pay-as-you-go: Prepaid: You buy capacity upfront in “packs” of message units or sessions.
Pay-as-you-go: Capacity consumption is billed directly to your Azure subscription, giving flexibility if you exceed or don’t want to pre-purchase units.
Flexibility & Scalability: Pay only for what you use, no upfront commitment.
Business Continuity: Avoid hitting capacity limits at critical times.
Cost Savings: No leftover pre-purchased units going to waste
Tenant-Level Pooling: Message units are pooled at the tenant level and assigned to specific environments. If an environment runs out, you can reallocate from the tenant’s total capacity or let it tap into a pay-as-you-go plan.
Copilot for Power BI
Copilot for Microsoft Fabric is now generally available in Power BI, bringing AI-powered assistance to both business users and report authors. This release streamlines report creation, data exploration, and collaboration. Administrators can enable or disable Copilot in the Fabric admin portal.
Narrative Visual & Summaries: Copilot can provide text overviews of entire reports or specific pages.
Ask Data Questions: Users prompt Copilot for metrics or filtered views—Copilot generates new visuals if no existing chart answers that question.
Synonyms & Model Descriptions: Improve Q&A by letting Copilot propose synonyms, plus add measure descriptions for better documentation.
DAX Query Assistance: Have Copilot suggest or write DAX queries, then run them directly in Power BI.
